September 11, 2001 is a day America will never forget.
For the past four years, we have been involved with Cantor Fitzgerald (BGC Partners) Charity Day. It is a day when those who have lost so much come together and try to rejoice and do good for several charities worldwide.
I was honored to have “Fox & Friends” host Elisabeth Hasselbeck represent the Noreen Fraser Foundation at BCG Partners’ 10th Annual Charity Day. Elisabeth and I walked the trading room floors, met the brokers and carried out real trades with customers. These brokers gave up their trade commissions for the entire day – so a huge thanks goes out to BGC Partners for turning a day of remembrance into a special day for our organization and the women who suffer from cancer.
We spoke with traders who were caught in the South Tower when the second plane hit their building. The survivors shared their harrowing stories and brought tears to our eyes. It’s remarkable to experience the resilience people have when faced with such tragedy. Losing a loved one, whether it be to a terrorist attack or to the terror of cancer, pulling yourself together and moving on with your life, is very difficult.
We will never know why some of us live and some of us die at an early age. But, for those left to carry on, it can be a bumpy road. My heart truly goes out to those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.
God Bless these families.
